The Glass Department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam (NL) has been in existence for 50 years. All these years, this program has been an important progressive breeding ground for aspiring glass artists, and therefore has gained a lot of international recognition. The GlazenHuis celebrated this anniversary with the exhibition THE COLLECTION_50 years Glass Department Gerrit Rietveld Academie. From the city’s collection of glass art and the donation of the private collections “Embrechts & Ryckaert” and “Schrijvers”, 50 objects of former Rietveld students and teachers were selected. In addition, two in-situ installations were created by guest artists Mia Lerssi (DK) and Joost Bicker Caarten (NL).
